Question 7943

Which of these factors promotes distractions while driving by making it harder to pay adequate attention to important stimuli?

  1. having the air conditioning on.
  2. an unfamiliar road.
  3. an excessively complex traffic situation.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: an excessively complex traffic situation.

When too many things are happening at once, as in the image with several lanes, sign panels, a bus, and a truck, you cannot pay attention to everything and may miss something important. A road you know by heart is more distracting than an unfamiliar one because you become overconfident.
