Question 7642

For motorcycle riders and passengers, does the clothing they wear matter?

  1. No, because it does not contribute anything to safety.
  2. No, it makes no difference as long as they wear a helmet.
  3. Yes, it is essential because the body is directly exposed to the weather.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: Yes, it is essential because the body is directly exposed to the weather.

Yes. On a motorcycle, you have no bodywork around you, so your body is exposed to cold, heat, wind, and rain, and it hits the ground in a fall. Motorcycle clothing protects you from the weather and reduces injuries from scraping against the asphalt. A helmet protects your head, but not the rest of your body.
