Question 7304

At this intersection, may you proceed with your vehicle when the light turns green?

  1. Yes, even if you end up stopped in the middle of the intersection.
  2. Yes, but you must wait until you can proceed without blocking the intersection.
  3. Only if you are going to turn left.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: Yes, but you must wait until you can proceed without blocking the intersection.

A green light allows you to proceed, but only when there is room to exit the intersection. The yellow grid painted on the road reminds you not to enter, even if the light allows it, if you will end up stopped inside and block cross traffic. In the picture, the line of traffic starts just beyond the grid. Turning left does not allow you to enter either.
