Question 7108

When passing, which vehicles must you leave a safety clearance of at least 1.5 meters from?

  1. The two-wheeled moped and the light quadricycle.
  2. The farm vehicle.
  3. Only the two-wheeled moped.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: The two-wheeled moped and the light quadricycle.

When passing pedestrians, animals, animal-drawn vehicles, mopeds, personal mobility vehicles or cyclists, you must move partly or fully into the adjacent or opposite lane and leave a safety clearance of at least 1.5 meters; if the roadway has more than one lane in each direction, you must change lanes completely. Outside built-up areas you must also reduce your speed by at least 20 km/h below the road's limit. A light quadricycle is legally a moped, so the rule covers it too. Farm vehicles are not on this list, although you must always leave enough lateral clearance.
