Question 6982

If you are driving in a lane for the normal direction of traffic, next to one that has been opened for traffic in the opposite direction, are you required to have your vehicle's lights on?

  1. Only if I am driving at night or in adverse weather conditions.
  2. Yes, at least the low-beam headlights.
  3. No.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: Yes, at least the low-beam headlights.

If you are driving in the normal-direction lane next to a lane opened for traffic traveling in the opposite direction from normal, you must keep at least your low beams on, day and night, whatever the weather. The same applies to anyone driving in the lane opened for opposite-direction traffic.
