Question 6939
On a road outside a built-up area with three lanes for the same direction of travel, which lane must you generally use?
- The center lane or the left lane.
- The left lane.
- The right lane.
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: The right lane.
The right lane, like the blue car in the picture. Outside built-up areas, with three lanes in your direction, that is your normal lane, and the center or left lane is used when traffic or road conditions call for it, without impeding anyone behind you. Neither is a lane for regular travel.
