Question 5551

This traffic signal indicates to drivers of trams and buses on scheduled routes that...

  1. they must turn right or left.
  2. they may proceed straight ahead.
  3. they may not proceed.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: they may not proceed.

A horizontal white bar on a black background prohibits streetcars and buses on regular routes from proceeding, just like a steady red light. To allow them to go straight, the bar would be vertical, and to allow a turn, it would be diagonal toward that side.
