Question 5501

If, while driving on a congested road, you notice a police vehicle approaching that is traveling on urgent duty, what must you do?

  1. Make way for it, as much as possible.
  2. Stop the vehicle until it has passed.
  3. Continue driving, because it does not have the right-of-way.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: Make way for it, as much as possible.

Even if the road is congested, you must make way as much as you can, for example by moving close to the edge or waiting without moving somewhere you will not be in the way. Stopping is one option, but only when it helps the vehicle get through. Simply continuing is not acceptable, because the police car responding to an emergency has the right-of-way.
