Question 5220
Vehicles traveling on the shoulder are prohibited from riding side by side, except...
- bicycles.
- those traveling very slowly.
- mopeds and motorcycles.
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: bicycles.
Vehicles required to use the shoulder must travel single file. Only bicycles may ride two abreast, and they must ride single file between sunset and sunrise, on stretches with no visibility, when they impede traffic, or in very poor visibility. Mopeds do not have this exception, even if the shoulder is wide, and traveling slowly does not grant it either. Motorcycles travel on the roadway.
