Question 4496

What must you do if, while driving through an underpass, your vehicle has a breakdown that does not prevent you from continuing to drive?

  1. Continue to the exit of the underpass, whenever possible.
  2. Stop the vehicle inside the underpass and turn off the engine.
  3. Stop the vehicle inside the underpass and turn on the hazard lights.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: Continue to the exit of the underpass, whenever possible.

If the vehicle can still move despite the breakdown, do not stop inside the underpass. Continue to the exit or, if you cannot reach it, to an area reserved for emergencies. Stopping inside with the hazard lights on or the engine off is for when the vehicle can no longer move.
